Proper Snuff Technique Listings

We’ve seen it in the movies. A character takes out a snuffbox, grabs a pinch of snuff, brings it to his nose and then snorts it into his nasal cavity. But this is the WRONG way to take snuff. Snorting the fine powder into your nose will cause it to be transferred into the back of your throat and into your nasal cavities, causing a serious bout of the sneezes. Follow these tips to enjoy the most out of your snuff:
1) Start with a small amount of nasal snuff equal to a pinch. Begin with small pinches.
2) Place the nasal snuff on the back of your hand in the meaty part between your thumb and index finger (an area called “the poor man’s snuff box,”) or keep the snuff pinched between your fingertips.
3) Inhale the snuff very lightly, just as you would inhale taking a normal breath of air.
4) Enjoy the aroma and feel the rush.
You may feel the urge to sneeze. That’s all right and perfectly natural. A handkerchief always accompanies experienced snuff takers. However, the more regularly you take snuff, the less you will have to sneeze.
Also, be sure to keep your snuff in an airtight container located in a cool, dry place. Exposure to air will cause the snuff to lose its moisture and oils that make up the scent.
